Athens Olympics Sign Shell as Sponsor in Euros 5.56m Deal
ATHENS 2004 announced Shell as an Official Supporter in the category of Petroleum Products. Shell’s sponsorship consists of a sum of EUR5.56 million in cash, plus provision of fuelling stations at the ATHENS 2004 bus
depots, servicing the Organising Committee’s bus fleet during Games-time.
Shell is one of the largest fuel companies in the world. Having been a Sponsor of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, it has acquired valuable know-how in matters regarding Olympic sponsorship. The decision of Shell – Greece President, Mr A. Laskaris, to join the ‘family’ of Olympic Sponsors, highlights his and the company’s desire to contribute to the success of the 2004 Games and promote the principles of the Olympic Movement.
Shell and ATHENS 2004 will be working together as early as this August, to host the Pre-Olympic Sailing Event, the ATHENS 2002 REGATTA.
The ATHENS 2004 Sponsoring Programme has now achieved 109% of its initial projected revenue target, with only nine of the forty planned sponsorship categories concluded.
