Davis Cup – New Rules 2000 – Change Of Ends And Rest Periods
Change of Ends This year, after the first game of each set, the players change ends BUT THERE IS NO 90 SECONDS REST PERIOD. (This is the same as changing ends during a Tie-Break). Set Break At the end of each set, regardless of the score, there will be a 2 minute Set Break. (The Chair Umpire will call “Time” after 90 seconds). However, if a set ends after an even number of games (6-0, 6-2, 6-4, 7-5) the players do not change ends after the Set Break. Toilet Breaks This year, toilet breaks should be taken during a Set Break. Any toilet break taken after the warm-up has started now counts as one of the authorised breaks. In doubles, each team is entitled to a total of two (2) toilet breaks in all matches. If partners leave the court together, it counts as one (1) of the team’s authorised breaks (includes warm-up).
