The long-standing marketing partnership between the German Football Association, Deutscher Fussball-Bund (DFB), and international sports marketing company Infront Sports & Media has been extended for a further period of five years. The renewal of the marketing contract with the DFB carries forward a highly successful marketing relationship that will have lasted for almost 35 years by the time it expires in 2014. The relationship originated in 1980 with Infront’s predecessor CWL. General Secretary of the DFB, Wolfgang Niersbach, said: “With this agreement, the DFB will continue to develop its strong position as one of the world’s most successful national football associations in advertising as well as football terms. We are doubling income for the women’s national team matches. This reflects the higher television audiences that this sport receives.” Philippe Blatter, President & CEO of Infront, commented, “The long-standing and particularly amicable partnership with the DFB has a very special status for Infront. We are proud to represent Germany’s national team during the build-up to the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups™ and also the women’s national team, at a time when the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup will take place on home ground in Germany. The DFB marketing platform is already very well developed, but we will enhance its appeal for major brands during the next contractual period.” DFB President Dr. Theo Zwanziger added: “This agreement reflects our belief in working with established and reliable partners. With Infront we are united by a relationship based on mutual trust and appreciation. The fact that Infront donated the public viewing rights to the DFB during the 2006 FIFA World Cup at no cost – helping to make the event the most successful ever in terms of mass public participation – confirms to us that they are a company that can see the bigger picture and that we are in good hands for the future.”
The DFB announced today in Frankfurt am Main that it has renewed the agreement with Infront in respect of Germany’s national football teams. The successful partnership will continue from 1st July 2009 to 30th June 2014.
The agreement covers all stadium advertising rights to all home matches played by the German national team (A team); the women’s national team and three men’s youth teams – Under-21, Under-20 and Under-19. It also includes those away matches of the men’s and the women’s A team where the DFB owns the rights.
