English Soccer’s Premier League to Get New Website
FA Premier League sponsors Barclaycard are teaming up with Fast Web Media Limited to produce the official website of the FA Barclaycard Premiership – it will be called 4thegame.com.
The partnership will see Fast Web Media’s flagship website, EPLsoccer.com, (also known as fa-premier.com), renamed 4thegame.com with Barclaycard and FA Barclaycard Premiership branding incorporated into the design. The newly named site will be launched in January 2002.
4thegame.com will provide its 1.74 million regular world-wide users with comprehensive coverage of the FA Barclaycard Premiership. It will include up-to-the-minute news on the twenty teams, video news bulletins, exclusive ticket competitions, Barclaycard Awards footage, live scores, match reports and previews, exclusive features and interviews, player profiles, message boards, high profile columnists such as Brian McClair and a comprehensive search facility.
The website supports five key objectives for Barclaycard:
Barclaycard’s Sponsorship Director, Nic Gault, said: ‘This is an important step forward for us. Our ambition is to make 4thegame.com the Number One football website in the market.’
‘Fast Web Media are the ideal partner for this venture. They have an in-depth understanding of the online football marketplace, strong technical ability and we were impressed by their strategic plans for the delivery of football content through electronic channels around the world.’
Fast Web Media was established in 1995 and is based in Manchester. The company publishes football websites and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Fast Search and Transfer ASA (FAST).
Commenting on the deal, Fast Web Media’s CEO, Mike Flynn said: ‘We are looking forward to a long and fruitful relationship with Barclaycard. 4thegame.com’s official status will allow us to enhance its content further and will see Fast Web Media and Barclaycard offer users the ultimate FA Barclaycard Premiership website. I believe the league is the world’s most exciting club competition and the site will bring it to life for fans of Barclaycard Premiership teams the world over.’
