The Orange Arrows Formula One Team is delighted to announce its association with Asia Motor Technologies (AMT), to have exclusive use of AMT V10 engines, which will be a significantly developed version of the current Peugeot V10 engine.
AMT recently acquired the totality of the Peugeot Formula One Engine project, and this deal will provide a works engine to the Orange Arrows team for an initial period of two years, to commence in 2001. AMT are totally committed to continue the work already achieved by Peugeot Sport, using the same engineers and facilities in Velizy, France, to design and build the engines, but enhanced by increased investment and development budgets.
The decision was based on AMT’s confidence in the quality of aerodynamics and impressive engineering of the Arrows A21 car, demonstrated so far this year by the strong performance of the Orange Arrows team. AMT further believe this technology will also aid in the development of their engines.
Acting as engine supplier only, AMT will not be involved in any share acquisition of the Arrows F1 Team.
This is a very encouraging progression for the Orange Arrows team and another significant step towards the Team’s development and ability to fulfil its ambitions. Team Owner and Principal, Tom Walkinshaw commented, ‘We are obviously very happy with the new engine deal with AMT, which should enable us to improve the team greatly and for the first time with full factory support from an engine partner’.
