Federation Internationale de Hockey (FIH) has extended Octagon CSI’s international television rights contract, which now runs until 2004.
Field hockey, whose history dates back over 4,000 years ago, was first played in ancient Egypt and Ethiopia according to historical records. The Olympic sport is very popular throughout the world and now has 117 national associations.
The Octagon Group, through its subsidiary previously named API Television, has been working with FIH since 1996. During this period, TV distribution has grown significantly to 67 territories world-wide.
Hans Bertels, executive director of the FIH comments, ‘We are extremely happy about our partnership with Octagon CSI. Octagon CSI have improved the broadcast quality of the sport, as seen recently during the successful Champions Trophy in the Netherlands and we look forward to further international exposure for hockey in the future’.
