FINA Approves Membership Of Serbia And Montenegro As Independent Federations

Lausanne (SUI), August 21, 2006 – Following the separation of Serbia and Montenegro, FINA has approved the membership of the new Federations of Serbia Swimming Federation and Montenegro Swimming Federation as independent bodies.

In consequence, the successor entity to Serbia-Montenegro, Serbia Swimming Federation will inherit all current FINA team rankings, standings and entitlements that has been earned by the Swimming Federation of Serbia & Montenegro.
 
Furthermore, the Montenegro Swimming Federation as a new FINA Member, will start from scratch with respect to team rankings and standings.

The present number of FINA National Member federations is now of 193.
