MEXICO, March 31, 2000 – FOX Sports Latin America, the most widely distributed Spanish- language pay television sports network in the world, announced the acquisition of the exclusive pay television rights to transmit the Mexican Baseball League’s Sultanes de Monterrey home games during the 2000 season.
FOX Sports Latin America announced that they will transmit all of the Sultanes de Monterrey’s home games during the regular season, including playoff games, starting on April 6, 2000. Sultanes de Monterrey will celebrate its 61st Anniversary in Monterrey, a city that has become synonymous with Mexican baseball. Sultanes led the Mexican league in Championships in the 1990’s and continue to be one of the most popular teams in the Mexican league as well as a leading contender for this year’s title.
The addition of Sultanes de Monterrey’s home games to the FOX Sports Latin America sports programming will give this team exposure to more than 10 million Latin American Spanish-speaking homes and will reach more than 2.8 million Spanish-speaking homes in the US, through FOX Sports World Espa±ol. FOX Sports Latin America and FOX Sports World Espa±ol will enable Sultanes de Monterrey’s ability and outstanding performance on the baseball field to be viewed by a wide range of spectators and knowledgeable baseball fans across the Americas.
