The Groups for the 2002 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers were announced this morning in Tokyo.
The qualifying period is from 1 March 2000 until 31 November 2001. Each one of the six confederations is responsible for announcing its own qualifying fixtures.
The groups are as follows:
ASIAN QUALIFYING GROUPS FOR 2002 FIFA WORLD CUP:
Group 1: Philippines, Laos, Syria, Oman.
Group 2: Guam, Myanmar, Tajikistan, Iran.
Group 3: Palestine, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Qatar.
Group 4: Kyrgystan, Bahrain, Singapore, Kuwait.
Group 5: Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Lebanon, Thailand.
Group 6: Macao, Nepal, Kazakstan, Iraq.

Each country will play a total of 18 matches home and away.

CAF: QUALIFYING GROUPS FOR 2002 FIFA WORLD CUP
Ist round is a 25 two leg series of knockout matches. The winners will then go into a further draw which will then decide who qualifies for the finals. The first phase will be based on geographical constraints and organised into 5 groups of 10.
