Haymarket Publishing, the United Kingdom’s largest private magazine publisher, and Kaizar.Com, Inc. of Newport Beach, California, have finalised an agreement to merge their Autosport.com and Atlas F1 websites. The deal will combine the strengths of both sites, producing the best online motorsport subscription service in the world.
As part of the agreement, the new service will be led by Atlas F1 editor-in-chief Biranit Goren, published under the Autosport.com umbrella, and produced by the Atlas F1 and Autosport.com teams working together.
Autosport is one of the best-known brand names in the motorsport industry, especially in Britain (home to seven of the world’s 10 Formula One teams) and mainland Europe, with a print magazine history of more than 50 years. Autosport.com was launched in 1996 and became a subscription site last June, providing unparalleled news coverage, exclusive features, interviews and profiles from many of the world’s top racing and rallying series.
Atlas F1, ‘the Journal of Formula One Motorsport,’ was launched in February 1995 by entrepreneur Paul Kaizar and is now the longest-running F1 website on the Internet. Atlas F1 has built itself a reputation as a high-quality product, respected for its reliable and comprehensive F1 news stories and detailed analysis, and is best known among motor racing fans in the USA. Atlas F1 subscribers have access to FORIX (Formula One Result & Information Explorer), an extensive database of historic Formula One statistics and data, and this will now also be made available to subscribers of Autosport.com.
Simon Daukes, Joint Managing Director of Haymarket Magazines Ltd., commented: ‘This agreement will produce the best online motorsport subscription service to be found anywhere in the world. Autosport.com subscribers will enjoy more in-depth coverage of Formula One, as well as free access to FORIX, and Atlas F1 subscribers will gain the broader-based additional content of Autosport.com.’
Formula One enjoys a massive worldwide following, each race attracting more than 300 million TV viewers.
