Forth One, the largest radio station in East Central Scotland and the Edinburgh Rocks, Scotland’s only professional basketball team have announced their first two year sponsorship deal.

The Edinburgh Rocks are gearing up for their new season which tips off late in September, and securing a top media sponsor was at the top of the target list for Rob Claridge, Director of the Rocks.

‘Knowing that Forth One was going through an exciting transformation, and that their audience was also a target audience for ourselves, it was a key objective to build a partnership with the station. Our games are a mixture of music, crowd interaction, competitions and the contest on the court itself. This fits very well with the format and approach of Forth One. We have an exciting event that we want to take to the youth and student market, and Forth One can help us do this, as well as benefit themselves from the exposure and promotional activity we will undertake together over the next two years.’

‘On the court we have a new Coach in Kevin Wall, and he is putting together a team that looks capable of being play-off contenders; off the court we are building a team of partners and sponsors to be as strong as the on-court team. With Forth One I believe we have the leading station in the country and a very strong partner.’

The sponsorship involves financial and regular on air support for the Rocks and their games including appearances and interviews in exchange for forth one branding at Meadowbank plus regular joint promotions and competitions to build both audiences plus opportunities for corporate hospitality.

Forth One have only recently re-branded from what used to be Forth FM. Through new advertising campaigns, programming and promotional activity the station aims to strengthen the relationship with their existing younger listeners.

The first joint activity of the sponsorship will be the Rock’s cheerleader trials taking place on Saturday 14th July with live broadcasts from the auditions.
