Leading fashion designer Jeff Banks and London 2012 today revealed their design for the uniform that the London Olympic Bid team will wear for their final presentation on 6 July in Singapore.

The suits were today modelled by London 2012 Olympic ambassadors Sir Steve Redgrave and Denise Lewis MBE at Canary Wharf.

The suits have been designed with the hot energy sapping Singapore climate in mind. They are a special blend of the finest Merino wool mixed with superfine linen.

The linen stone coloured suits for both men and women have been individually tailored for each member of the London 2012 team by Jeff Bank’s expert bespoke tailors, handmade and delicately stitched.

The cornflower blue shirts and blouses have been made from the finest Italian two fold cottons and tailored in Romania, wool from Australia, linen from Ireland, cotton from Egypt, woven in Italy, tailoring and making in the heart of Yorkshire, a truly international flavour for a truly international project.

As a special touch, each suit will have a subtle London 2012 logo embroidered on the inside serving as a good luck symbol to send the team on its way.

London 2012 Chairman Sebastian Coe said “We are delighted with the final designs from Jeff, they are stylish, fashionable and classic.

The final press presentation in Singapore is a vital element of our bid and looking and feeling good will give us the confidence to get on with the job in hand which is to bring the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games to London”.

Jeff Banks said “The content of the bid is everything but as with most things, presentation is vital. I believe I have created an appropriate wardrobe for the final crusade of the Olympic 2012 team.

They have been styled, measured, fitted and pampered to ensure that their lightweight wardrobe will enable them to not worry how they look in their clothes but to get on with their job of winning the Games for London and the UK”
