MEC:Sponsorship, part of global communications specialist Mediaedge:cia (MEC), continues to expand with the appointment of Martin Johnston as a director to its international headquarters in London. Johnston was formerly head of communications at British Eurosport.
The appointment comes on the back of increasing demand for strategic sponsorship consultancy by MEC national and international clients, and the development of MEC:Sponsorship across every major market worldwide.
MEC:Sponsorship is currently working with clients including Norwich Union, Visa, Xerox, Specsavers, Sony Ericsson and Schwarzkopf, and works very closely with parent company MEC on integrating sponsorship solutions into the overall communications offer to UK and international clients.
Johnston has 13 years experience in sponsorship and sports marketing. At MEC:Sponsorship, he will be responsible for managing a number of high profile accounts, and will assist the development of the business in the UK, Europe and worldwide.
Johnston comments: ‘It’s an exciting time for the sponsorship industry as a whole and MEC:Sponsorship is well placed to offer integrated sponsorship for its existing clients, whether local or multi-market. I wanted to be part of that process of building MEC clients’ brands through innovative sponsorship solutions.’
Jeremy Clark, managing director of MEC:Sponsorship, adds: ‘Martin’s diverse experience across all areas of the sponsorship industry, including federation, media owner and brand consultancy, will be invaluable to the
continued development of our offer to clients.’
