Men's soccer's Saudi Pro League (SPL) has entered into a partnership involving both live broadcasts, as well as watchalongs, with soccer-centric media and content platform Footballco.

Through a tie-up between those two parties, unveiled today, the creator-led social media platform and YouTube channel GOAL's Front Three, run by Footballco, will provide live coverage in a range of markets of "tentpole" SPL fixtures.

These markets are: the UK and Ireland; Belgium; the Nordic countries; and Canada.

This tie-up follows on from the SPL announcing in mid-September that it was going direct-to-consumer (DTC) in 16 markets – including the UK and Ireland, the Nordics, and Canada.

This is being achieved through a collaboration between the 18-team league and Recast, the UK-based media monetization solution that used to be solely a sports streaming platform.

The specific Footballco-SPL partnership (also involving Recast) will begin, in terms of live event coverage, with the top-of-the-table clash between Al Hilal and Al Qadsiah on October 23.

Other games to be shown live by Front Three this calendar year will include Al Ittihad versus Al Ahli on November 26, and Al Nassr (Cristiano Ronaldo's team) and Al Hilal on December 10.

Aside from the live match coverage, Front Three will also provide watchalongs from creators during the games, as well as post-event clips and highlights.

Mohamed Rassmy, the Saudi Pro League's digital media rights director, commented: "Our partnership with Footballco reflects the Roshn Saudi League’s commitment to finding innovative ways to connect with international audiences and grow the Roshn Saudi League’s global fanbase.”

“By combining live football with the reach and influence of established digital creators, we can engage fans on the platforms they already use, while making the RSL more accessible and building stronger relationships with supporters."

The league has been attempting to build both its on-pitch appeal and its commercial profile for the past half-decade or so, most notably by making big-money signings of a host of well-known international stars, such as Portuguese icon Cristiano Ronaldo.

The SPL has claimed this latest broadcast coverage development is meant to complement and enhance the international broadcast coverage it receives, with the league currently shown across more than 180 territories, by 45 partners.

Worldwide media distribution rights to the property are currently held by heavyweight sports marketing agency IMG, in a deal running through 2028-29.

The 2026-27 SPL season began on August 13, and will run through until late May.

Andy Jackson, senior vice president for the Middle East at Footballco, added: "While we’re looking forward to offering fans the ability to stream matches from the [league] on Goal this season through Recast, we wanted to offer fans something different and the chance to experience some of the biggest games this season in a unique way with the creators they’re used to seeing on a daily basis …

"We also recognise that we have an opportunity to grow awareness and fandom of the RSL in these markets, through Goal's Front Three broadcasts, which can then translate into a transactional relationship on our website through our relationship with RSL and Recast.”
