CONMEBOL, South America’s governing body for soccer, has expanded the visibility of its top-tier Libertadores men's club competition in Brazil after securing new rights deals with media heavyweights Globo and Paramount.

The body’s agreement with commercial broadcaster Globo will see the CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores return to its pay-TV service, SporTV, with 41 matches per season, including the final, while Paramount will also show the same number of fixtures and the final on its streaming service Paramount+ live for the first time.

Specifically, the pair’s Libertadores rights bundle (Package C) includes selected matches from the preliminary phases, 24 group-stage matches, two Round-of-16 matches, one quarter-final, one semi-final (shared), and the final (shared with all other broadcasters).

The package also includes coverage of additional CONMEBOL competitions, including the women’s Libertadores Femenina, Libertadores Sub-20 (under 20s), the men’s and women’s Futsal, beach soccer’s Libertadores Fútbol Playa, and esports tournament eLibertadores.

The agreements were brokered by sports marketing agency IMG, which extended its commercial, sponsorship, and media rights partnership (operating through its joint-venture subsidiary FC Diez Media) with CONMEBOL through 2030.

Juan Emilio Roa, commercial director at CONMEBOL, said: “The renewal and return of historical partners is a testimony to the value of CONMEBOL Libertadores to the Brazilian Market and to CONMEBOL's continuous approach in building long-lasting, mutually beneficial relationships with all its partners.

“We look forward to yet another successful cycle with Paramount+ and this expansion in our existing relationship with Globo.”

For Globo, the new deal adds to its Libertadores coverage in Brazil for the 2027-30 cycle, having retained exclusive free-to-air rights to the competition in a deal struck last December.

Under the deal, Globo will keep the games on its digital channel GE TV on YouTube, which launched last year, guaranteeing access to the competition both on television and online.

Fernando Manuel Pinto, sports rights director at Globo, said: “It is with great satisfaction that we further strengthen our partnership with CONMEBOL, an organization that has demonstrably invested in and bolstered its tournaments year after year.

“This new agreement builds upon the one we concluded with the organization last year, bringing more matches, content, and opportunities.”

The main Libertadores rights package in Brazil for the 2027-30 cycle is held by Disney-owned sports broadcaster ESPN, which will have priority in choosing matches each round.

For the secondary Copa Sudamericana, Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) has acquired rights on free-to-air television, with Disney securing the main pay-TV package.

The Recopa Sudamericana, which is contested by the winner of the previous year's Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana, will be broadcast by Globo and ESPN.
