Spanish giants FC Barcelona have secured a five-year partnership agreement with telecommunications giant Telefónica covering its Espai Barça stadium redevelopment project.

Under the agreement, Telefónica becomes an official partner and will provide connectivity services across the newly renovated Camp Nou, home of the men’s first team, which recently installed the first seats on the stadium’s third tier as work progresses towards expanding its capacity to 105,000.

As part of the agreement, Telefónica gains its own box inside Camp Nou, along with naming rights to one of the stadium’s premium hospitality spaces currently under construction.

As well as renovating Camp Nou, the Espai Barça project includes the Estadi Johan Cruyff, which houses the women’s team (Barcelona Femeni), the men’s reserve team (Barcelona B), and the men’s U19 team, the Palau Blaugrana indoor arena for FC Barcelona’s basketball, handball, roller hockey and futsal divisions, and a public plaza.

The redevelopment of Camp Nou makes up the bulk of the project, with Estadi Johan Cruyff already completed. The new Palau Blaugrana and the wider Campus Barça development are still to follow.

Telefónica has a long-standing relationship with Spanish soccer via its Movistar Plus streaming service, which airs the country’s top-tier LaLiga alongside sports streaming platform DAZN under a rights agreement running through 2026-27.

Telefónica and DAZN will also share domestic rights to the league for the next cycle (2027-28 to 2031-32), with both broadcasters receiving rights to one each of the two annual El Clásico meetings between heavyweights – and fierce rivals – Real Madrid and Barcelona, and an equal number of first-choice picks through the season.

Last week, Telefónica extended its sublicensing agreement with global sports subscription platform DAZN that will see Movistar Plus gain the right to air all games from LaLiga for the next cycle.

The sublicensing deal will see Telefónica pay DAZN €1.65 billion ($1.9 billion) to distribute the platform's LaLiga rights package, comprising five of the 10 matches each game week, through 2031-32.

With Telefónica and Movistar holding rights to the other five fixtures per game week, customers of Telefónica's Movistar Plus TV service will continue to have all LaLiga action available to them for the 2027-28 to 2031-32 cycle.
