Nestle UK today announced its newest sports sponsorship – a ú1 million partnership between the world’s largest food company and the world’s most exciting multi-purpose arena, Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium.

The five-year package will not only see Nestle forge links with the Millennium Stadium as an official partner, but also become official suppliers to the Welsh Rugby Union and the Welsh National side. In addition, Nestle has agreed to become a sponsor of the Dragons Rugby Trust, which is responsible for the grass roots development of the game in Wales.

David Lunn, New Business manager, Nestle UK, ‘This is an exciting time for Welsh Rugby with its new state of the art home at the Millenium Stadium and one which we are delighted to support. Nescafe and Kit Kat are exactly the type of leading brands you would expect to find at what is undoubtedly the finest rugby stadium in the world.’

As part of the deal Nestle branding will be seen across the stadium on prime perimeter boards and on the stadium concourses. Nestle will also be exclusive suppliers of coffee, confectionary, ice cream and hot dogs.

Nescafe branded counters and mobile sites will provide fans with half-time refreshments, including Nescafe coffee, confectionary favourites such as Kit Kat, Yorkie, Smarties and Aero, Nestle Ice Cream and Herta frankfurters.

‘As the latest major international company to become involved with the Millennium Stadium, Nestle is adding its well known brands to the catering and hospitality facilities available at the ground. It is also giving a major financial boost to the WRU and Millennium Stadium,’ said Millennium Stadium plc and Welsh Rugby Union chairman Glanmor Griffiths. ‘I am delighted that such a world renowned company has become involved with Wales’ national sport and national stadium.’

Millennium Stadium plc and Welsh Rugby Union secretary Dennis Gethin added, ‘Nestle already has established links with such major sporting institutions as The Championships at Wimbledon and The Premier League and it is an honour to join such a notable company.’
