Specifically, Ticketmaster will embed its SafeTix technology into the tournament’s official mobile app, power venue access across all four competition venues via its TM Entry solutions, and provide on-site support throughout the event.
Tickets for the event are scheduled to go on sale tomorrow (August 27).
Frank Leenders, director general of FIBA Media and Marketing Services, said: “As we prepare to welcome fans from around the world to the first FIBA Basketball World Cup in the Middle East, it was important to partner with a ticketing provider that could deliver at a global scale.
“Ticketmaster brings proven technology, operational expertise and extensive experience supporting the world's biggest sporting events, giving us confidence we can provide fans with a seamless and secure journey from ticket purchase through to tip-off.”
The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027, the first to be staged in the Middle East and Africa region, will feature 32 national teams playing across 92 games between August 27 and September 12.
Games will be played across four venues in the capital, Doha, including Lusail Arena, Al Attiyah Arena, Duhail Arena, and the Al Janoub Stadium.
Ahmad Abdulla Al-Buenain, director general of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027, added: “The LOC places the fan experience at the heart of its preparations for the tournament, which is why we have partnered with one of the world’s leading companies in ticketing platforms and event access management.
“This partnership aims to provide fans with a seamless and secure experience, from purchasing their tickets through to arriving at and entering the venues.”
The new deal comes as FIBA continues to add new commercial partners as it prepares to stage its major international events, having secured an extension with global transport company Kuehne+Nagel for another three years, covering the women’s 2026 (Germany) and men’s World Cups.
Earlier this year, the governing body unveiled investment platform XTB as a new global partner for its major tournaments through 2027 earlier this year.
XTB is FIBA’s ninth global partner, joining Ganten, Molten, Nike, TCL, Tissot, Smart, 1xBet, and Yili, which renewed its deal with the federation last year.
