Newport Rugby have secured a ‘substantial six-figure sponsorship’ with Bisley Office Equipment to become the club’s shirt sponsor for the next three years.
Bisley, who are based on the Reevesland Industrial Estate in Newport, are taking over from Robert Price Builders as the main shirt sponsor. Robert Price have backed the club for the past seven years.
‘In welcoming Bisley as the latest major backer of Newport Rugby, I would also like to say a wholehearted thank you to Robert Price for their loyalty over the past seven years,’ said Newport Rugby chief executive Keith Grainger.
‘Bisley’s backing will be vital to the club as we seek to build on our success in winning the Principality Cup last season. Now we want to scale new heights, especially in Europe in the Heineken Cup.
‘These are very exciting times at Rodney Parade and the level of backing we are receiving from Bisley is proof we are moving in the right direction both on and off the field.
‘With Springbok star Joost van der Westhuizen joining Simon Raiwalui’s side next season, and former South African coach Ian McIntosh strengthening the coaching staff, everything is slotting into place for another major advance for the club and its supporters.’
The new shirt sponsorship deal also means a new look to Newport’s away strip for next season. While the home strip will remain black and amber, the change shirt will be black with a thin amber and red hoop across the chest and an amber and red stripe down the sleeve and across the shoulder.
Bisely Office Furniture factory manager Stuart Dillon said of the new deal:
‘We are really excited to be extending our involvement with Newport over the next three years by having our name on their shirts. The explosion of interest in the rugby revolution that has taken place at Rodney Parade in recent seasons has been a boom for the club, the town and the employers in the region.
‘This deal will ensure the Bisley name is not only seen extensively throughout Wales, but will also be broadcast on a widespread and regular basis across Europe through the club’s involvement in the Heineken Cup.
‘It was great to see Gary Teichmann pick up the Principlaity Cup last season. Now the 550 employees at Bisley’s Newport factory hope to see Simon Raiwalui add the Celtic League, Welsh/Scottish League and ultimately the Heineken Cup to the collection.’
