TMRW Sports, the sports technology company that operates golf’s annual TGL competition, has announced Alexis Ohanian – co-founder of social media site Reddit and founder of venture capital firm Seven Seven Six – as the second confirmed franchise owner for its upcoming WTGL venture.
WTGL, the women’s edition of the tech-focused golf competition, will launch in late 2026 and feature teams of LPGA Tour players competing across a season of team match play from the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

Ohanian – alongside his wife, tennis icon Serena Williams, already co-owns a men’s TGL team, LAGC, winners of the 2026 edition of TGL, which will now expand into the upcoming women’s edition.
The investor has reportedly paid $20 million for the rights to the women’s team, a value reflective of TGL’s growing reputation.
Indeed it has been reported that minority stakes in men’s TGL sides have been sold for fees in the region of $90 million to $100 million.
Of his investment in WTGL, Ohanian commented: “My first question when I took the investment pitch for TGL was ‘men’s golf is great, but when can I get a women’s team?’”
“I’m proud that today is the day we can officially announce buying the LA WTGL team. Seven Seven Six builds and backs companies that shape the world we want to live in.”
Via Seven Seven Six, Ohanian’s other prominent sports investments include a 10% stake in English soccer side Chelsea Women, US women’s soccer’s Angel City FC (which he has since exited), and a League One Volleyball team.
Mike McCarley, co-founder and chief executive of TMRW Sports, added: “As we build a global platform for women’s team golf, the support of partners like Alexis and Serena will be instrumental to our long-term success.
“WTGL’s modern media approach will be a showcase for the athletes’ competitive drive, elite shot-making skills, and dynamic personalities. Like his other investments in women’s sports, Alexis and his team understand the opportunity when shining a spotlight on amazing athletes and sharing their stories.”
The inaugural men's TGL season was held in early 2025, with the second season having begun on December 28 last year. That campaign ended with a best-of-three final earlier this week.
WTGL has already received strong commercial interest, with a consortium led by Trybe Ventures, the venture capital fund led by US women’s soccer star Alex Morgan, investing in the competition in January.
Trybe leads an investment group that has taken a stake in WTGL that includes several prominent investment executives, including Linnea Roberts (GingerBread Capital founder), Jenny Just (PEAK6 Investments co-founder), Susan Lyne (BBG Ventures co-founder), Jen Mackesy (minority investor in soccer’s Chelsea FC, Gotham FC), and Ellie Rubenstein (Manna Tree co-founder).
The concept was revealed in partnership with the Ladies Professional Golf Association in early January.
Arthur Blank, the prominent US businessman, was the first to commit to WTGL, with the Atlanta Drive GC franchise becoming the first confirmed entrant.
