Motor racing’s elite Formula 1 (F1) series has struck a renewal with Disney-owned international sports broadcaster ESPN covering the Latin American and Caribbean regions ahead of the 2026 campaign.

The three-year agreement, which runs through the 2028 season, will cover 18 markets across Latin America (excluding Brazil and Mexico, which have their own partnerships) and the Caribbean.

Alongside elite F1 action, the partnership also includes coverage of the secondary Formula 2 and tertiary Formula 3 categories, the all-female F1 Academy series, and the Porsche Super Cup stock car racing tour, all of which serve as support races to the F1 campaign.

Broadcasts will be disseminated across ESPN’s linear channels and its digital platforms, including the Disney+ OTT service (region-wide) and ESPN Premium (Chile only).

In Argentina, the races will be covered by the Fox Sports networks, which are owned by Mediapro (which holds the Fox brand under license) and have a content agreement with Disney (which sold the channels to Mediapro in 2022).

Formula 1 claims over 150 million fans across Latin America and the Caribbean, a number it says has been growing in recent years.

In the top-tier category, the most prominent representation for the region is that of Mexican star Sergio Perez (Cadillac), Brazil’s Gabriel Bortoleto (Audi), and Argentina’s Franco Colapinto (Alpine).

Colapinto’s ascension to F1 has caused a massive uptick in interest in the series in Argentina, according to F1, which states that there are 17.2 million fans in the country.

ESPN chief media rights and broadcasting officer Ian Holmes said: “ESPN has been a trusted broadcast partner for many years, so we are excited to continue our collaboration and take our sport to even more fans as we witness incredible growth across Latin America and the Caribbean.

“This has been helped enormously by the dedication and passion of the ESPN team to bring our fans the latest F1 action through world-class broadcasting.”

ESPN vice president of programming and acquisitions Michael Walters added: “The extension of this agreement with Formula 1 strengthens a strategic alliance that reinforces ESPN’s commitment to excellence in sports content.

“Through comprehensive, multiplatform coverage, we will continue bringing the passionate audiences of Spanish-speaking South America, Central America, and the Caribbean the highest level of international motorsport.”

This year's F1 season gets underway over the weekend of March 7 and 8 in Melbourne, Australia, and runs through 24 rounds until the final race in Abu Dhabi in early December.

Across the campaign, two races will take place in the region, the Mexico City Grand Prix on October 31 and November 1, which will then be immediately followed by the Sao Paulo Grand Prix in Brazil on November 7 and 8.

Rights in Brazil are held by major broadcast Globo in an exclusive rights deal running through the 2028 season.

In Mexico, meanwhile, rights are held by  Televisa-owned pay-TV service Sky Sports, which swiped the package from Fox Sports Mexico (owned by Grupo Lauman) in 2025.
