Netflix, the global streaming giant, attracted a global audience of more than 30 million for its coverage of the fight between boxers Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua last Friday.
The bout, which took place at the Kaseya Center in Miami, scored an estimated average minute audience (AMA) of 33 million live viewers globally from opening to closing bell as Joshua delivered a sixth-round knockout of Paul.

The event reached Netflix's Top 10 in 91 countries and ranked number one in 45 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Australia, Mexico, and Argentina.
The event set a new record as the highest-grossing boxing gate in the Kaseya Center’s history.
The fight marked Paul’s second live event on Netflix in just over a year, following his victory over Mike Tyson in November 2024, which was watched by over 60 million households worldwide.
Paul vs. Joshua also generated 1.25 billion impressions across Netflix’s global social channels.

By GlobalDataEarlier this month, EverPass Media, the platform that delivers live sports content to commercial businesses, agreed a distribution partnership with Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions to sell and distribute the fight.
EverPass estimates that nearly 600,000 viewers experienced the fight in commercial venues nationwide.
In September, Netflix also drew a huge audience for the superfight between Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford and Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, with 41 million global viewers tuning in.
The streamer called the bout the “most-viewed men’s championship boxing match” of the 21st century.
Netflix’s live sports slate continues on Christmas Day when it will air a doubleheader from American football’s NFL – Washington Commanders vs Dallas Cowboys and Minnesota Vikings vs Detroit Lions.
The platform has been getting more involved in the live-streaming of sport over recent years, and also holds rights to top-tier properties from sports such as baseball, tennis, and soccer (through the acquisition of FIFA Women's World Cup rights in the US for the next two editions).
In terms of recent activity, Netflix agreed to buy the film and TV studios of media and entertainment heavyweight Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) earlier this month in a seismic deal worth $72 billion.
However, the company faces competition from US media heavyweight Paramount, which has submitted a more lucrative offer that WBD this week said it will consider.
