Heavyweight insurance brand Gallagher has expanded its already-significant presence in English rugby union by striking a sponsorship deal covering the top-tier Premiership Women's Rugby (PWR) competition.
Through a three-year tie-up unveiled today, Gallagher becomes the nine-team league's official insurance partner, with the deal coming into effect for the start of the 2025-26 PWR season on October 24 (Friday).

PWR has said that Gallagher will support the women's game's growth in the UK "on and off the pitch by creating leadership, coaching, and community development opportunities that mirror the company's own principles and culture."
This agreement adds to Gallagher's existing title sponsorship of the men's English Premiership, through an agreement also set to run until the end of the 2027-28 season. GlobalData Sport has valued that deal – unveiled last September – as being worth the equivalent of $4 million annually.
The original tie-up between the insurance brand and Premiership Rugby got underway in mid-2018.
In addition, Gallagher has also had a partnership with World Rugby in place since 2023 that has been focused on the women's game.

Genevieve Shore, Premiership Women's Rugby's executive chair, has commented on the tie-up: "Gallagher has proven over many years that it is a steadfast supporter of rugby and has played a huge part in the game’s success over recent years. I am certain that bringing that energy to PWR will give us the perfect platform to capitalise on the success of the World Cup and continue to grow the women’s game and inspire future generations to pick up a rugby ball.”
In terms of PWR commercial activity, the league unveiled a deal with trading and investing platform eToro in late July.
Through that deal, eToro has gained naming rights to PWR’s 'Try of the Week' award from the start of the 2025-26 season.
Launched in June 2023, rebranded from Premier 15s, PWR was established to deliver a 10-year strategy for women’s rugby in England through a partnership between the Rugby Football Union and the 10 clubs participating in the PWR competition and the Allianz Cup.
