Swedish public-service broadcaster SVT has agreed a new multi-year broadcast partnership with the World Table Tennis body to show its elite WTT Series events.

As a part of the four-year deal, SVT will air 11 WTT World Series and ITTF events each year, beginning with the 2025 ITTF World Table Tennis Championships Finals, which will take place in Doha, Qatar, from May 17 to 25.

The deal was brokered by global sport and media agency IMG, which acquired the global distribution rights for the elite table tennis events in 2025.

The main attraction for Swedish audiences will be Olympic silver-medalist Truls Möregårdh, the number seven-ranked men’s singles player on the tour, and number 15-ranked men’s singles player Anton Kallberg, as well as prominent doubles players Kristian Karlsson and Christina Kallberg, who are the number six-ranked mixed doubles pair.

Alongside them, other Swedes Fillipa Bergand, Mattias Falck, and Linda Bergstrom have all also qualified for the upcoming World Championship.

This deal will also include the 2025 Europe Smash, which will take place in Sweden at the Malmö Arena from August 14 to 24, alongside three other top-tier WTT Smash events, six of the secondary WTT Champions events, and the WTT Finals.

Additional tournaments in the deal include the biennial team World Championships, which will next take place in 2026.

Speaking on the rights acquisition, SVT sports manager Mac Bursell said: “We have long seen a great interest in table tennis when it goes well for the Swedish players. The successes in recent times have taken the popularity to a new level. So we are happy to make this investment.”

WTT has also recently secured a renewed broadcast agreement in China with Migu.
