Pulsar Internacional announced that it would rebalance its showjumping sponsorship portfolio in order to increase its focus on national competitions and athletes. The decision will affect its support of CSI Monterrey and the Pulsar Crown.

For the past several years, Pulsar’s two major showjumping sponsorships have included CSI Monterrey and the Pulsar Crown, both of which focus on sport’s top international riders. By no longer maintaining these two events, the Mexican company will increase the resources available to support the development of the sport in Mexico.

Pulsar will maintain existing sponsorships at CHIO Aachen (GER) and CSI Valkenswaard (NED) and will also fulfil its current obligations to Otto Becker and Beezie Madden. This means, should either of these two riders win next year’s Grand Prix of Aachen and/or the Grand Prix of Valkenswaard, Pulsar will award prize purse equivalent to those they would have earned should the Pulsar Crown have continued.

In the future, the company plans to concentrate its primary efforts on domestic and developmental programs. This includes continued support of the Intercontinental Youth Showjumping Championships and the Americas Young Horse Championship that take place at Club Hipico La Silla in Monterrey, Mexico in April and October respectively.

Pulsar will also be looking at other opportunities to increase Mexico’s competitiveness at the international level such as increased support of activities undertaken by the Mexican equestrian federation, the creation of a fund for developing athletes and sponsorship of European tours for national riders.

CSI Monterrey was first held in 1992 and has been ranked number two in the world since 1998. The Pulsar Crown was launched in 1995 to reward the competitive excellence of top athletes in the increasingly competitive world of show jumping, while also providing a link between top events in Europe and the Americas.
