The 36th Ryder Cup Matches, to be played at The K Club, Straffan, County Kildare, Ireland, will take place from 22-24 September, 2006. The Matches were originally due to be played in 2005 but were delayed by 12 months following the terrorist attacks in the United States on September 11, 2001 which resulted in that year’s contest being postponed until 2002.
The European Ryder Cup Board is indebted to the Gaelic Athletic Association in Ireland for their courtesy and cooperation in agreeing, in the national interest, to switch the date of the GAA All Ireland Final, which is normally played on that weekend at Croke Park, Dublin.
