Sunday Telegraph Sponsors Nottingham Open
The Sunday Telegraph has signed a one-year deal with the LTA to sponsor this year’s high profile men’s pre-Wimbledon tournament, The Nottingham Open.
The Nottingham Open 2004, presented by The Sunday Telegraph, will take place from June 14 to 19. It is an established and popular event on the Men’s ATP Tour and its famous grass courts are certain to be the scene of some thrilling tennis from world class players. Paradorn Srichaphan of Thailand, ranked 15th in the world and number one in Asia, has confirmed that he will make his first ever appearance at Nottingham this year.
British players will also be on show, hoping to gain precious world tennis ranking points at The Nottingham Open, an ATP Tour event.
Mark Dixon, marketing director at Telegraph Group Limited, commented on the deal: ‘The Sunday Telegraph is committed to tennis. The Sunday Telegraph Center Parcs Junior Grand Prix is now a prestigious national tournament and John McEnroe’s column is incisive, knowledgeable and full of his wit and humour. We’re delighted to add The Nottingham Open to our tennis portfolio.’
LTA Chief Executive John Crowther said: ‘ We are delighted to announce this commercial partnership with The Sunday Telegraph. The Nottingham Open 2004 is a prestigious event on the ATP grass court calendar and one that is enjoying an ever increasing spectator audience. I have no doubt that the world class tennis action on offer throughout the week will certainly lend itself to the sports writing flair of The Sunday Telegraph.’
