Sydney will have a chance to thank the 50,000 people who have worked as volunteers on the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
New South Wales Premier Bob CARR announced Wednesday that a grand parade would be held through the central business district of Sydney on Thursday, 5 October, to thank the volunteers.

The parade will finish with a thank-you concert in the Domain.

‘Over the past few weeks volunteers from all over Australia, and NSW in particular, have worked to make the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games an enormous success,’ said CARR. ‘They have been wonderful ambassadors for our country. Their dedication, professionalism and warmth have been outstanding.’

The Premier said the proposal for the parade had come from Sydney Lord Mayor Frank SARTOR.
