WSM, the London-based sports marketing consultancy, has appointed Adam Tarrant as its new Sales Director. Tarrant, who takes up his new position from today (1st June), will be tasked with growing sales revenue from existing WSM-owned event properties as well as working with the New Business and Sales team to secure new retained clients and to identify additional, standalone sales properties.

Tarrant joins WSM from The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) where he played a lead role in the governing body’s sales operation, successfully negotiating sponsorship deals with NatWest, npower, Vodafone, Red Bull and Clydesdale Bank.

Andrew White, Chief Executive of WSM, said: “This is a significant appointment for WSM.  Adam brings with him a wealth of experience of the sponsorship marketplace and, through his time with the ECB, an impressive list of industry contacts.

“Adam’s expertise will play a crucial role in our efforts to further develop our existing event properties and strengthen the company’s future new business activity.”

Of his new appointment, Tarrant commented; “I have been impressed with WSM since I first worked with the agency on the development and launch of Twenty20 Cup cricket back in 2003.  My new role presents an exciting new challenge for myself and the company and I look forward to working with Andrew White and his team to further develop the WSM event business and client base.

“I am excited by Andrew’s plans to take the company forward and relish the opportunity to play an active part in that process.”

Since the company’s inception in 2000, WSM has established a strong foothold in the UK sports marketing industry, successfully delivering projects for a host of Sports Federations, blue chip sponsors and sports brands.

Current WSM-owned event properties include The Aberdeen Cup – a Scotland vs England team tennis challenge featuring Andy Murray and Greg Rusedski, The Super Series Squash Finals, and European Seniors Tour golf events on both sides of the Atlantic.

Amongst WSM’s retained clients are Aberdeen Asset Management – sponsors of the Senior British Open Championship, The Dragon European Sailing Championship, and Tour golfers Paul Lawrie, Mark McNulty and Simon Yates – and Brit Insurance, sponsors of Surrey CCC, the Brit Oval and a series of high profile national hunt races.
