On the eve of the Rugby World Cup 2007, the finest collection of rugby legends ever assembled will gather together to celebrate 20 years of Rugby World Cup history at The Rugby reUnion.

This official Rugby World Cup event will be a truly spectacular gathering of the sport’s biggest names from all corners of the rugby playing world, joining together to reminisce and celebrate the best moments from the five previous Rugby World Cup tournaments spanning the last 20 years.

Martin Johnson, Francois Pienaar, Sean Fitzpatrick, Michael Lynagh, Gavin Hastings, Abdel Benazzi, – these are just a handful of the Rugby World Cup legends confirmed to attend the star-studded dinner on Tuesday, 4th September at Old Billingsgate in central London.

In a broadcasting first, ITV1 will be screening this unique celebration of 20 years of Rugby World Cup as a 1-hour programme on the evening of Thursday 6th September, launching the broadcaster’s live coverage of the Rugby World Cup 2007 which kicks off the following day.

The landmark evening will see stars from each of the five preceding Rugby World Cup tournaments mixing with the rugby fans who have revelled in their heroics as part of a televised celebration of the sport’s most prestigious tournament.

Commented Rugby World Cup winner and Australian fly-half Michael Lynagh: “The Rugby reUnion promises to be a night to remember. I can’t wait to relive the magical moments of this wonderful tournament, catching up with old friends and reminiscing over 20 years of outstanding and memorable rugby.”

In collaboration with media partners ITV and The Daily Telegraph, a panel of rugby legends will also draw up a shortlist of the tournament’s greatest stars before rugby fans from across the UK are invited to vote for their ‘Rugby World Cup All-Time XV’ in the lead-up to this historic event. The results of the public poll will then be unveiled on the evening of The Rugby reUnion.

In between a gala dinner in the company of the greats of the game, The Rugby reUnion will also feature archive footage of highlights from the last 20 years of Rugby World Cup history, on-stage interviews with some of the stars of past tournaments, as well as the Rugby World Cup trophy itself sitting proudly on display.
