Springboks Unveil New Rhino ‘Dictator’

Yesterday saw the Springboks unveil their new scrum machine – the Rhino Dictator. Following its purchase by the South African Rugby Union, leading manufacturer, Rhino, customized the livery so the team have a unique ‘Springbok green’ machine which bears SARU’s sponsor SASOL’s logo alongside the usual Rhino branding.

Rhino aims to follow up the sale with a re-launch of the brand into the South African market; the company’s original ‘Powerhouse’ roller-style machine is still popular throughout clubs and schools around the country following the early success with the model in the 1980’s under the stewardship of Rhino founders Tim Francis and Phil Keith Roach, former England Scrum coach.

The Springbok’s investment in the ‘Dictator’ puts them in the company of the British & Irish Lions as well as the England, Wales and Scotland national squads, all of whom have been using Rhino scrum machines for many years.

Rhino CEO, Reg Clark said “Rhino is delighted that the Springboks have chosen to purchase a Rhino Dictator scrum machine. To have this endorsement by the World Champions of our top of the range product is extremely gratifying. We have nurtured ambitions to re-launch our products and our brand in the South African markets for some time and this looks like the time to do it.’
