L’Equipe, the French digital sports broadcaster, is to show the upcoming Copa America, South American soccer’s national teams competition.

The tournament kicks off in Brazil on Sunday and, under an 11th hour rights deal, matches will be streamed on the new L'Equipe Live platform.

The first four games will be available live and free to view, with the other 24 only for subscribers.

However, L'Equipe will rebroadcast the games on its free channel at 11.30am and 3.30pm.

Brazil meet Venezuela in Brasilia on the opening day of the Copa America, which coincides with the Uefa European Championships taking place across the continent.

At short notice and despite high Covid-19 infection levels in the country, Brazil replaced Colombia and Argentina as the host of the Copa America.

In a statement, the Brazil team said: "For different reasons, be they humanitarian or professional, we are not satisfied with the way the Copa America has been handled by Conmebol (the South American confederation)."
