Fox replaces ESPN as Bassmaster rights-holder from 2021
Fox, the US national network, has agreed a multi-year rights deal with B.A.S.S., the fishing organisation, from 2021.
Under the agreement, all nine Bassmaster Elite events, as well as the Academy Sports and Outdoors Bassmaster Classic, will feature live television coverage for the first time on Fox Sports beginning in February.
Fox replaces previous rights-holder ESPN.
Bassmaster said the new deal with Fox “allows for more expansive coverage of the tournaments.”
Fox’s coverage will he highlighted by the Bassmaster Classic from 19 to 21 March, which will feature three hours of content on the Fox broadcast network and three hours of content on its FS1 channel.
Viewers will also be given multiple ways to watch Bassmaster events during live weekend broadcasts as an additional livestream with additional anglers will be featured on the fishing body’s website alongside the Fox programming.
On days and times when the Bassmaster Classic and Elite Series tournaments are not being broadcast on Fox or FS1, the Bassmaster live show will be streamed online via Bassmaster.com and on the Fox Sports digital platforms.
Bill Wanger, Fox Sports executive vice-president, head of programming and scheduling said: "Fox Sports sees this as a unique opportunity to work with Bassmaster to elevate a best-in-class sports property to a new level and to an expanded audience."
