Greek Super League finalises title sponsorship deal with Interwetten
Interwetten, the European sports betting operator, has finalised the acquisition of title sponsorship rights to the Greek Super League, the top soccer league in the country.
The three-season agreement begins with the upcoming 2020-21 campaign and is worth around €6 million ($7.05 million) in total.
Interwetten only became the official betting partner of the Greek Super League ahead of the 2019-20 season.
The previous title sponsor was Souroti, the Greek bottled water company, prior to which OPAP, the lottery and sports betting firm, held the contract in a long-term deal.
Leonidas Boutsikaris, president of the Super League, said: "We are very pleased that the Super League's cooperation with Interwetten is now entering a new era, as it is officially the Gold Sponsor of the Super League."
Dominik Beier, representative for Interwetten’s board of directors, described Greece as a very important market for the operator, noting: "So we want to continue to invest in sports here and expand our position. The naming rights for the Super League championship is the most important sports deal that exists in Greece.
"The Super League opens up a wealth of opportunities for us, both for communication and action, across the country and throughout the year."
Interwetten's logo will appear on the official match ball and it will get LED board advertising around the Super League grounds, and on the league's digital platforms.
It is already the shirt sponsor of top-flight side Asteras Tripolis.
The 2020-21 Super League Interwetten season is set to get under way in the middle of September.
