Peruvian Liga 1 quartet remain without TV deals ahead of resumption
Four clubs in Peruvian soccer's top-tier Liga 1 Movistar remain without a television rights deal in place ahead of the resumption of the 2020 season next weekend.
Deportivo Llacuabamba and Atletico Grau, both newly promoted for 2020, plus Alianza Universidad and Carlos Stein remain outside of an existing 16-team rights deal between the FPF and Fútbol Perú Consortium, formed by pay-TV channel Gol Peru and its parent Movistar.
Gol will show the home games of those 16 teams for the remainder of the 2020 season, but it is not clear where the home games of the four aforementioned teams will be available to watch.
Earlier this season, Deportivo were fined 215,000 sol ($62,000) by the FPF, after their clash with UTC was aired on Gol without the federation's prior approval.
Citing an October 2019 addition to its statutes, the FPF claims it has the “exclusive power to negotiate and assign all rights arising from the competitions it organises.”
Before then, the FPC negotiated directly with Liga 1 and Liga 2 clubs.
