Yamaha and Dorna sign technical supplier partnership for WorldSBK
Yamaha, the Japanese motorcycle company, has signed up as the official technical supplier for the 2020 season of motorcycling's FIM Superbike World Championship.
The manufacturer will provide a fleet of scooters to Dorna WSBK, the series’ commercial rights holder, to be used in the paddock for every round during the remainder of the 2020 campaign.
The scooters will be primarily used by the Dorna production team.
Marc Saurina, WorldSBK’s commercial, marketing and media executive director, said: “This support enables us to have a top quality and reliable transport system for Dorna at every round, and these details are invaluable to the successful running of a World Championship.”
Only one round of the 2020 WorldSBK calendar was possible before the coronavirus pandemic caused a global sporting shutdown.
The competition then resumed on 2 August with the Spanish round, and the action now heads to Portugal this weekend.
Two more rounds, in Argentina and Italy, are awaiting confirmation on exact dates.
