World RX names Champion Lubricants as partner until 2021
The FIA World Rallycross Championship today unveiled oil brand Champion Lubricants as a new sponsor in a two-year agreement.
As part of the deal, which begins with the forthcoming 2020 season, the brand will have a multimedia presence at all race circuits, in industry publications and on social media.
The partnership was brokered by IMG, the international sports marketing agency that promotes the championship.
Total, the energy giant, was the previous official lubricant partner of the series.
Champion said its deal with the World RX Championship “illustrates the company’s commitment towards a long term strategy, helping to build and secure a bright future for the sport.”
David Gillett, commercial director for World RX, said: “The FIA World Rallycross Championship is delighted to partner with a brand of the calibre of Champion Lubricants. The drivers need to have the utmost confidence in the engine lubricant products used. We are confident that Champion will prove an invaluable partner and are excited to have them on board for the next two years.”
This year’s World RX season will consist of 10 two-day events driven on closed circuits with mixed surfaces but the final revised schedule for 2020 is yet to be confirmed.
The season was
due to begin in April but was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.
