World Athletics in the market for general counsel
World Athletics, the international governing body, is looking to recruit a director of legal and business affairs – general counsel.
The appointed candidate will manage a team of three and report to WA chief operating officer Vineesh Kochhar.
In the job description, Monaco-based WA said that the general counsel “will be responsible for providing practical and effective legal advice across all areas of World Athletics business, ensuring that the Association always operates within the law.”
The responsibilities include drafting, negotiating and managing a variety of commercial agreements including those relating to rights sales, event production, sponsorship activation, IP, governance, ethic and compliance.
WA is seeking a lawyer with between 12 and 15 years of post-qualified experience, preferably with general counsel experience.
The governing body said the successful applicant will be “used to working in fast-paced environments, willing to take up the challenge, join a dynamic and collaborative leadership team and add value to our organisation by facilitating business strategies development.”
There is a deadline of 30 April for applications, and further details, including how to apply, are available here.
