DAZN to offer Wilder-Fury II in five markets
DAZN, the international OTT sports subscription service, is to show the upcoming world heavyweight championship boxing rematch between Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury in five countries, after announcing the acquisition of exclusive rights in Spain and Italy.
The platform had already secured exclusive rights in Germany and Austria and non-exclusive rights in Switzerland.
The fight takes place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, USA on Saturday night, and is highly anticipated after the first clash, in December 2018, finished in a draw.
Wilder, from USA, will be seeking to defend his WBC title against the UK’s Fury, with both men undefeated in their professional careers.
Jacopo Tonoli, chief commercial officer of DAZN Group, said: “We are thrilled to bring this heavyweight clash to five of our markets. Both Wilder and Fury are exceptionally entertaining fighters and will put on a show to remember for our subscribers… DAZN is proud to bring boxing fans the best fights across all weight divisions as part of our flexible and accessible offering.”
Other broadcasters for Wilder-Fury II include Fox and ESPN in the USA, BT Sport in the UK, Canal Plus in France and NENT Group in the Nordic region.
