Discovery picks up Nordic rights to Spanish Supercopa
Discovery, the US media giant that owns Eurosport, has acquired rights across the Nordic region to Spanish soccer's revamped Supercopa in a three-year deal.
The agreement begins with this season's tournament in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on 8 to 12 January.
The Supercopa used to feature the winners of LaLiga and the Copa del Rey but has now been expanded to four teams. This year's tournament will feature Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Valencia.
Matches will be shown on the Eurosport channels and the subscription streaming service Dplay.
The RFEF, the Spanish soccer association, issued tender documents for the international rights on 12 November, with first-round bids due on 28 November. There were separate packages on offer for Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.
Discovery also holds rights to the Spanish Supercopa in Italy.
