Beijing 2022 brings in insurance firm as 10th official partner
Beijing 2022, the organising committee for the next Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, has signed up the People’s Insurance Company of China as its 10th top-tier official partner.
PICC, which was also a sponsor of the Beijing 2008 summer Olympics, will join Allianz, the international giant that from 2021 will be an IOC TOP partner in an eight-year deal, as an insurance services provider of the games.
PICC has already been involved with insuring the construction of Beijing 2022 venues, including the National Speed Skating Oval and the National Alpine Ski Centre.
Zhang Jiandong, Beijing 2022 executive vice-president and the city’s deputy mayor, said: “We hope that PICC Group will provide efficient and professional property and casualty insurance services for the games.”
Miao Jianmin, PICC Group’s chairman, added: “It is a great honour that PICC will once again have the opportunity to support the Olympic Games.”
Outside of the OIympics, PICC provided insurance solutions for the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou.
PICC joins nine other official partners to have signed up with Beijing 2022 - Bank of China, Air China, Yili Group, ANTA, China Unicom, Shougang Group, CNPC, Sinopec Group, and State Grid.
Seven second-tier event sponsors, and two third-tier event suppliers have also been signed up.
