LFP brings in Elevate to commercialise US pre-season tournament
The LFP, the French professional soccer league, has appointed Elevate Sports Ventures, the US sports and entertainment consulting firm, to support North American media rights, sponsorship and ticket sales for this summer's Ligue 1 tournament in Washington DC.
It was revealed late last week that Ligue 1 quartet Marseille, Bordeaux, Saint Etienne and Montpellier will play on 18 and 21 July at Audi Field, the home of Major League Soccer team D.C. United, with the tour sponsored by Electronic Arts, the maker of the popular Fifa video game.
The mini-tournament forms part of a broader strategy to increase exposure of Ligue 1 and attract greater investment from the country, with Elevate tasked with commercialising the project.
Companies interested in sponsorship or media broadcast opportunities should email Elevate Sports Ventures chief operating officer Flavil Hampsten at Flavil@ElevateSportsVentures.com.
Elevate was launched last year as a joint venture of the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers, Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment, Ticketmaster, Live Nation and Oak View Group, to offer solutions in areas such as stadium licences, premium ticketing and corporate hospitality.
Al Guido, chief executive of Elevate, said: “Elevate Sports Ventures is honoured to represent Ligue de Football Professionnel as they showcase four of France Ligue 1’s most dynamic clubs in this special US-based tournament.
“The international fandom surrounding AS St. Etienne, FCG Bordeaux, Olympique de Marseille and Montpellier HSC is extraordinary, and we look forward to welcoming the international soccer fans of the world to Audi Field for these four marquee matchups.”
Didier Quillot, his LFP counterpart, added: “It is a pleasure to bring some of our league’s most popular clubs to the US and know that our ticketing, media and sponsorship efforts will be represented by some of the most respected and connected executives in sports and entertainment across the country.”
