SponsorClick yesterday officially launched the first global sponsorship marketplace on the Internet – www.sponsorclick.com. This innovative platform allows corporations to instantly identify sponsorship opportunities that perfectly match their marketing objectives and budgets. At the same time, SponsorClick offers individuals and organisations looking for sponsors direct access to potential partners globally.

Both the sponsorship seekers and the sponsors can register for this service free of charge until December 2000. In addition to ‘matchmaking’, SponsorClick will also offer additional support in the form of instant rating systems of sponsorship opportunities, standardised sponsorship contracts, affordable and valuable measurement of sponsorship impact, on-line auctions of sponsorship packages plus forums and chat rooms.

SponsorClick’s management team incorporates financial, marketing and e-business professionals. ‘Sponsorship generated a global business volume amounting to US$ 21 billion in 1999 and expects to see double-digit growth during the next couple of years’, explains Roland Giscard d’Estaing, CSO of SponsorClick. ‘The role of SponsorClick.com is to ensure that sponsorship money is wisely spent by facilitating mutually beneficial sponsorship deals. We are committed to setting new standards of professionalism and transparency in the sponsorship business.’ adds Xavier Quattrocchi-Oubradous, CEO of the Company.

Major sponsors in the fields of finance, consumer goods and telecommunications are already registered in SponsorClick. Sponsorship seekers in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the UK and the US have also registered thousands of sponsorship packages in SponsorClick. Other European markets will be integrated into the product offer later this year. Sponsorship encompasses cultural, sporting, education, media and charity events and ranges from local individual initiatives to international events. Potential sponsors and sponsorship seekers alike can register within seconds on a user-friendly web site available in five languages.

Potential opportunities matching sponsors’ given criteria are located by SponsorClick’s tailor-made search-engine and shown instantly to the interested party. Once suitable partners are identified, sponsors and sponsorship seekers can start a dialogue. In the case of a deal, SponsorClick is entitled to a handling fee of 6 to 9% of the transaction’s value.

SponsorClick is headquartered in New York and holds an Operation Centre in London. Further subsidiaries will shortly be set up in most European countries. By 2002, SponsorClick expects to have a database containing 1 million entries, a staff of 150 around the world and an annual turnover in excess of US$ 70 million.
