Myanmar Withdraws from 2002 Fifa World Cup

Myanmar has withdrawn from the preliminary competition to the 2002 Fifa World Cup Korea / Japan.

In a fax dated 13 November the association informed Fifa that they would not participate in this event. Group 2 of AFC, slated to kick off the World Cup qualifiers in Asia on 24 November in Tabriz (Iran) now only has three teams left: Iran, Tajikistan and Guam.

The withdrawal case will be submitted to the Organising Committee for the Fifa World Cup for appropriate action according to the regulations.
