Miami, 24 June 2002 – Satellite transmission leader GlobeCast announced today that for the second consecutive year, it is providing Outdoor Life Network (OLN) with over 100 hours of live satellite delivery and playout from the Tour de France, July 6-28, 2002, according to Robert Behar, president and chief executive officer of GlobeCast America.

GlobeCast – a France Telecom subsidiary – is the world’s largest provider of satellite transmission and production services for professional broadcast, enterprise media and Internet content delivery. For more than 10 years, the company has been a leading supplier of mobile satellite broadcasting from the Tour de France through its owned-and-operated teleports and production units in France.

At each stage of the 3,300-kilometer race, GlobeCast is supplying OLN with a dedicated SNG vehicle – owned and operated by GlobeCast – tape playout, Ku-Band uplink capabilities and two control operators. GlobeCast is backhauling the daily broadcasts via an 18-MHz channel on NSSK, an SCPC solution that allows OLN to uplink directly to capacity for one-hop transatlantic delivery.
