With 3041 spectators, beautiful sunshine and world class Cyclo-Cross Sunday’s 4th leg of the Telenet UCI Cyclo-Cross World Cup Bogense 2017 was a big success for Cross Denmark – a collaboration between North Funen Business and Tourism, Sport Event Denmark, Sport Event Funen, Danish Cycling Union and UCI, the International Cycling Union.

"The pictures that have now travelled the world are worth more than 1000 words. They show that in Denmark we can join local and international forces to create a big event like this one. The design of our venue underlines the fact that we can face a task like this in Denmark. Together with North Funen Business and Tourism, Sport Event Denmark and Sport Event Funen, we were successful in Bogense today, "says Henrik Jess Jensen, Chairman, Denmark's Cycling Union.

At the International Cycling Union there was also great joy over today's event.

"UCI is pleased to have brought the Telenet UCI Cyclo-Cross World Cup to Bogense Denmark. It was a learning day for everyone with a fine event and exciting races. We are pleased with the interest we have met in the Danish media and from the public. This gives us the assurance that the UCI Cyclo Cross World Championship in February 2019 will be a big success. So thank you for having given us the opportunity to present Cyclo-Cross in such a beautiful setting on the Danish seaside, "says Christelle Reille, spokeswoman for UCI, Cyclo-Cross.

The Danish organizers also have the World Cup in 2019 in mind after today's successful event.

"The World Cup in Cycle Cross in Bogense is an important step towards the World Championship  in 2019. It is also important in itself because we, with this World Cup together with Denmark's Cycling Union, North Funen Business and Tourism and Sport Event Funen, used it as a showcase for the sport and for our event-set-up nationally and internationally, "says Lars Lundov, director, Sport Event Denmark.

"Basically, we have sporting events here in Funen to attract tourists and to create an experience for the people of Funen. This is achieved by compiling a program that people find exciting and different. Today we have seen a completely different sport from what we are used to here in Funen and Denmark. It is a very special environment and a very special atmosphere unfolded in stunning and beautiful surroundings here in Bogense. I think most of those who have experienced the event here today will agree with me when I expect a very spectacular experience for the World Cup in 2019,” says chairman of Sport Event Funen, Mikael Kold, who welcomes the Funish Bike Island idea, which in addition to the World Cup and World Cup in Cycle Cross has also led a UCI Bike Region label.

"For Bogense and North Funen, the TV pictures from today's World Cup race have been a unique opportunity to make the whole world aware of how beautiful an area we have in this part of Denmark. So for us, the event has been both a sporting and tourism initiative and I am convinced that this investment will prove to be very well given. Together with deep professional partners, we have created the framework for a day that will be remembered and will bring even more cyclocross fans to travel to our attractive area when the World Championship is held in February 2019, "says Per Olesen, Managing Director of North Funen Business and Tourism.
