Germany’s Bundesliga and its global football stars have joined together to launch a new winter engagement campaign designed to drive excitement ahead of the league’s restart on 18 January.

The #BeWhoeverYouWant campaign aims to increase engagement with fans during the winter break by drawing on every football fan's childhood dream of becoming their favourite player.

The campaign’s ‘hero’ video shows a young fan daydreaming before transitioning into the shoes of his favourite Bundesliga players. Featuring icons like James Rodriguez, Manuel Neuer and Marco Reus, the editorially-driven story is full of exciting and entertaining moments.

A global network of media partners, clubs and their players are delivering this campaign in more than 150 countries by using editorial and promotional content produced by the Deutsche Fussball Liga (DFL) group. This includes videos, visuals, gifs and other supporting assets designed to drive engagement and stimulate conversation across digital channels. A number of these have been localised for specific markets as the Bundesliga continues to build on its growing global fanbase.

As part of the campaign, several competitions are being held by these partners, including the chance to win a ‘money can’t buy’ visit to a game in Germany later this season, plus many other merchandise prizes on offer.

To follow this campaign and find out all the latest news from the Bundesliga, visit the official social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, with further content available on the website: Bundesliga.com.
