Royal Bank of Canada has today been announced as a worldwide partner of this year's Ryder Cup golf competition.

The team contest between USA and Europe, delayed from 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic, will take place from 24 to 26 September at Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wisconsin.

In addition to broadcast and digital assets, the one-year agreement with the PGA of America and Ryder Cup Europe, which organise the event, will give RBC on-course branding, a strategic media integration and exclusive onsite hospitality for RBC clients with special viewing areas and unique experiences.

RBC already has a strong involvement in golf as the title sponsor of two PGA Tour events – the RBC Heritage and RBC Canadian Open – and various PGA Tour and LPGA Tour players.

Mary DePaoli, executive vice president and chief marketing officer of RBC, said: “The Ryder Cup is an iconic event, embodying the very best of golf — bringing a worldwide audience together and creating a special energy and excitement connected to team competition in golf. One of the most highly anticipated dates on the global sports calendar, RBC is proud and excited to be a Worldwide Partner of the 43rd Ryder Cup, and to help bring this historic event to RBC clients and golf fans around the world.”

The addition of RBC as a worldwide partner for the Ryder Cup follows that of premium watchmaker Rolex, which was announced earlier this year. The international insurance broker Aon, carmaker BMW and energy company BP are also worldwide partners.
