SPOTV, the pan-regional sports channel of South Korean broadcasting company Eclat Media, has agreed a distribution deal in the Philippines with satellite broadcaster Cignal TV.

Under the carriage deal, Eclat’s SPOTV and SPOTV 2 channels will launch live on the network tomorrow (June 16).

SPOTV has rights to several properties including MotoGP and WorldSBK motorcycling, the Wimbledon and US Open tennis grand slams, golf’s Open Championships, the Korean domestic baseball (KBO League), basketball (KBL) and volleyball (V-League) leagues, Badminton World Federation events, and World Table Tennis tournaments.

The distribution agreement with Cignal TV is SPOTV’s second in the Philippines after previously partnering with Sky Cable.

Lee Choong Khay, chief executive of SPOTV, said: “This partnership is another strategic step in making SPOTV’s sports content accessible to Cignal TV’s subscribers and all sports fans in the Philippines.”

Guido R. Zaballero, senior vice president and chief revenue officer of Cignal TV, added: “Cignal is always on the forefront in giving our subscribers the best in local and international sports.

Last October, SPOTV launched in multiple territories across Southeast Asia, with an aim to become the leading pan-regional sports broadcaster following the closure of Fox Sports Asia last year.

In March, the broadcaster launched its SPOTV NOW streaming service in Southeast Asia, providing live and on-demand access to SPOTV and SPOTV 2.

The app was initially rolled out in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, and the Philippines in the region and will be launched in Indonesia and Thailand soon.

SPOTV also has distribution deals in place with the likes of Astro and Unifi TV in Malaysia, First Media, MNC Vision, K-Vision, UseeTV, and MAXStream in Indonesia, Singtel and StarHub in Singapore, TrueVisions in Thailand, Macau Cable TV in Macau, and Univision in Mongolia.
