Karate Combat, the full-contact mixed martial arts series, has announced several new media rights partnerships in the US across linear, streaming, and social media platforms as it looks to increase its exposure in the major market.

Under a new distribution structure, CBS Sports, the cable and satellite channel of the US national broadcaster, will show a 60-minute highlights show, while ESPN Deportes, the US sports broadcaster’s Spanish language channel, will air a weekly 30-minute highlights show.

Bally Sports+, the streaming service of the network of regional sports broadcasters, has secured digital distribution of all full live events.

BeIN Sports Xtra, the free-to-air channel of the international pay-television broadcaster, has acquired linear television and digital distribution of all full live events.

There will also be free distribution of the league’s full live events on social media platforms Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, Twitter, and Karate.com as it looks to reach the key 18-to-34-year-old demographic.

The series, which integrates real-time virtual effects into the action through its partnership with video game developer Epic Games, launched in 2018 and has over 100 fighters signed to compete.

World champions and Olympic medalists from around the world compete in eight different weight divisions to win Karate Combat World Championship belts.

The series is set to return to action on December 17 for ‘Karate Combat 37’, the bantamweight championship fight between Eoghan Chelmiah (Ireland) and Jesus Lopez (Peru) live from the Backlots of Universal Studio in Orlando, Florida.

The new partnerships represent another step in the series’ aim to increase its exposure in key markets after successfully broadcasting its 2022 season internationally.

The 2022 season, which ran from May 13 to June 25, was Karate Combat’s fourth. It was broadcast in over 75 territories including major markets including France, Germany, Spain, Russia, and India through a broadcast agreement with pan-European sports broadcaster Eurosport.

It was the second consecutive year that it was broadcast by Eurosport following a deal struck for the 2021 campaign.

The series also had broadcast deals for the season in Europe with GolTV, S Sport, Premier Sports/Free TV, Canal+, MatchTV, and FreeSports/Box Nations UK.

It was also shown by ESPN Deportes in North America; Globo/Combate and DirecTV in South America; Adjara Sport, and BeIN Sports in Asia; BeIN Sports in Australia; and BeIN Sports and StarTimes in Africa.
